Frequently Asked Questions
What is RippleSwap? +
RippleSwap is a full-featured DeFi protocol built natively on the XRP Ledger. It combines token swapping, cross-chain bridging, liquidity pools, staking, and borrowing — all in one seamless interface with near-zero transaction fees.
How fast are transactions on RippleSwap? +
XRPL-native swaps reach finality in 3–5 seconds. Cross-chain bridges typically complete in 12–30 seconds depending on the destination chain. This is significantly faster than Ethereum-based protocols.
What wallets are supported? +
RippleSwap supports XUMM/Xaman (recommended for XRPL native), GemWallet, Crossmark, and MetaMask (for XRP EVM Sidechain interactions). We recommend XUMM for the best XRPL experience.
What are the swap fees? +
RippleSwap charges a flat 0.1% fee on all swaps. XRPL network transaction costs are fractions of a cent (typically 0.00001 XRP), making total costs far below any Ethereum-based DEX.
Which tokens can I swap on RippleSwap? +
You can swap XRP, RLUSD, USDT, USDC, and all IOU tokens issued on the XRP Ledger. Through our bridge, you can also swap to/from assets on Ethereum, BNB Chain, Polygon, Solana, Arbitrum, Avalanche, Base, and more.
What is RLUSD and how does it work on RippleSwap? +
RLUSD is Ripple's regulated, USD-backed stablecoin issued natively on the XRP Ledger. RippleSwap has deep RLUSD liquidity pools, enabling low-slippage swaps and competitive borrow/lend rates against RLUSD collateral.
How does liquidity pooling work? +
RippleSwap uses XRP Ledger's native AMM (Automated Market Maker). When you add liquidity, you deposit equal values of two tokens and receive LP tokens representing your share. You earn a proportional cut of all trading fees plus bonus XRP rewards.
What APY can I earn on staking? +
Staking APYs range from 8.5% (flexible, no lock-up) to 26% APY (180-day lock). All rewards are distributed in XRP. APYs are variable and depend on total protocol activity and staking pool size.
How does borrowing work on RippleSwap? +
You deposit XRP as collateral (up to 75% LTV) and borrow stablecoins like USDT or RLUSD. Interest rates start at 4.2% APR. Positions are monitored and liquidated if health factor drops below 1.0 — protecting lenders and the protocol.
Is RippleSwap non-custodial? +
Yes — completely. RippleSwap never holds your private keys or takes custody of your assets. All operations are executed directly on the XRP Ledger via your wallet signatures. You always remain in control.
How is the cross-chain bridge secured? +
The bridge uses Multi-Party Computation (MPC) with 20+ independent nodes using a 13-of-20 threshold signature scheme. No single entity ever holds a complete private key. Transfers require consensus among the majority of nodes to execute.
Which chains does the bridge support? +
Currently 12 chains: XRP Ledger, Ethereum, BNB Chain, Polygon, Arbitrum, Optimism, Base, Avalanche, Solana, Fantom, Cronos, and Tron. New chains are added regularly through governance proposals.
Has RippleSwap been audited? +
Yes. RippleSwap has been audited by Halborn Security, CertiK, OtterSec, and Trail of Bits in 2024. All audits passed with no critical findings. Full audit reports are publicly available on our GitHub.
What is the RSWAP governance token? +
RSWAP is RippleSwap's governance token, issued on the XRP Ledger. Holders can propose and vote on protocol changes including fee parameters, new chain integrations, pool incentives, and treasury management.
How do I earn XRP rewards? +
Rewards are earned automatically through activity: 0.05% XRP rebate per swap, up to 26% APY on staking, trading fee share on liquidity pools, and 0.03% bridge rebates. Rewards accumulate in real-time and can be claimed anytime.
What is the minimum swap amount? +
There is no minimum swap amount beyond the XRP Ledger's base reserve requirement (10 XRP wallet reserve). You can swap as little as 1 XRP with the same 0.1% fee and 3-second finality.
Can I use RippleSwap on mobile? +
Yes. RippleSwap is fully mobile-responsive and works with XUMM mobile wallet for native XRPL signing. Simply navigate to ripple-swap.com on your mobile browser and connect your XUMM wallet.
What happens if a bridge transaction fails? +
Bridge transactions include automatic failure recovery. If a transfer cannot be completed on the destination chain within the timeout window, funds are automatically returned to your source wallet. No manual intervention required.
Does RippleSwap have an API? +
Yes. RippleSwap offers a REST API and JavaScript/TypeScript SDK for developers. You can programmatically access swap quotes, pool data, bridge routes, and execute transactions through wallet integrations.
What is impermanent loss and does it affect me? +
Impermanent loss occurs when the price ratio of pooled tokens changes. RippleSwap's XRPL AMM minimizes this risk through concentrated liquidity mechanisms. The XRP/RLUSD pool, for example, historically shows very low impermanent loss due to stable relative pricing.
Is RippleSwap affiliated with Ripple Labs? +
RippleSwap is an independent DeFi protocol built on the XRP Ledger. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by Ripple Labs Inc. We build on XRPL as a public, decentralized blockchain infrastructure.
How are liquidations handled in the borrowing protocol? +
When a borrower's health factor drops below 1.0 (collateral value approaches borrowed value), liquidators can repay up to 50% of the debt and receive the equivalent collateral plus a 5% liquidation bonus. This happens automatically on-chain.
What are pool trading fees? +
Each pool collects a 0.1% fee on swaps, distributed to liquidity providers proportional to their pool share. High-volume pairs like XRP/USDT can generate significant fee income for LPs, typically contributing 8–18% of total APY.
Can I withdraw liquidity at any time? +
Yes. Standard liquidity positions can be withdrawn at any time with no lock-up. Staking positions have optional lock periods for higher APY, but flexible staking (no lock) is always available for users who prefer instant withdrawal.
Does RippleSwap support limit orders? +
Yes. RippleSwap integrates with XRPL's native Order Book DEX, allowing you to place limit orders at exact prices. These settle on-chain without needing any off-chain infrastructure, using XRP Ledger's built-in order book.
How does the XRP Ledger's AMM differ from Uniswap? +
XRPL's native AMM operates at the protocol layer, not as a smart contract. This means lower complexity, no smart contract vulnerabilities, and built-in integration with XRPL's order book for best-price execution across both AMM and limit order liquidity.
What is the XRP Ledger's energy efficiency? +
XRP Ledger is one of the most energy-efficient blockchains, consuming approximately 0.0079 kWh per transaction — over 57,000× more efficient than Bitcoin. RippleSwap inherits this sustainability by building natively on XRPL.
Can institutions use RippleSwap? +
Yes. RippleSwap offers an institutional API with enhanced features: custom slippage tolerances, batch transaction support, dedicated liquidity routing, and integration with compliant XRPL wallets. Contact us for institutional onboarding.
How do I report a bug or security vulnerability? +
Security vulnerabilities should be reported through our $10M Bug Bounty Program at security@ripple-swap.com. General bugs can be reported on our GitHub repository. Critical vulnerabilities may qualify for rewards up to $500,000 in XRP.
Is KYC required to use RippleSwap? +
No KYC is required for standard DeFi operations including swapping, bridging, pooling, and staking. As a fully decentralized, non-custodial protocol, RippleSwap does not collect personal information or require identity verification.
